QBO is the Web Connect format QuickBooks uses to import bank transactions. Unlike a spreadsheet, it carries account details and a unique ID for every transaction, so QuickBooks can match entries and avoid duplicates when you import more than once.
Each transaction’s date, signed amount, payee and full description are written into the file, with credits and debits typed correctly and a stable unique ID per row. Checking, savings and credit-card accounts are supported. The closing balance comes from the statement, or you can enter it if the statement doesn’t show one.
QuickBooks checks the bank details inside a QBO file. Enter your bank’s name, routing or bank ID, account number and QuickBooks financial institution ID (INTU.BID). The easiest place to find these is a QBO file your bank has supplied before. BankPDFExport never invents an institution ID; acceptance ultimately depends on your bank and your QuickBooks product. If QBO doesn’t suit your setup, CSV works with QuickBooks too.
Every conversion opens in an editable preview first. Check it against your statement, fix anything that looks off, then download. Balance checks warn you when amounts and running balances don’t agree.
QBO Web Connect files are used by QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. Whether a specific bank is accepted depends on QuickBooks.
Open a QBO file previously downloaded from your bank in a text editor and look for INTU.BID, or ask your bank.
